Recommend to everyone. A right place for sightseeing in Newcastle. A coffee maker, refrigerators, and a toaster for cooking. Nice welcome from host. Exceptional, lovely setting so close to the local market and other shoppings and other shoppings. Btw, located in the mountains.

I absolutely loved the cozy and inviting atmosphere of Loughview Retreat. The decor was charming and reminded me of a traditional cottage, which made me feel right at home. The general areas of the hotel were well-maintained and provided a comfortable space to relax and mingle with other guests. As a senior woman, I really appreciated the hotel's accessibility. The staff made sure there were no steps to navigate and the hallways were wide enough for me to comfortably maneuver my walking aid. It made my stay so much easier and enjoyable.
If I were to suggest one improvement for a better vacation for senior people, I would just ask the children working there to provide a few more handrails in certain areas of the hotel. This would ensure extra stability and support for seniors like myself, especially when walking up and down stairs or using the bathrooms.

The location was outstanding, with breathtaking views of mountains, lough, and green fields. It was so peaceful and serene, perfect for a retreat from the city. Plus, the local shop and bus stop were just a short walk away, making it convenient to explore the town. I can't wait to come back and stay here again during my next trekking trip.
Honestly, there was nothing negative about my experience. Everything was perfect, from the cleanliness of the place to the thoughtful touches that made it feel like a cozy home away from home.

The apartment at Loughview Retreat in The Mournes is cozy and comfortable. The bedroom is spacious and the bed is super comfy, perfect for a good night's sleep after a long day of trekking. The kitchenette has everything you need, making it easy to whip up a quick snack. The flat-screen TV is a nice touch, great for relaxing and catching up on your favorite shows. And of course, the tea/coffee maker is a lifesaver, providing that much-needed caffeine boost in the morning.
The shower could be a bit bigger. It's functional, but if you're looking for a luxurious bathing experience, this might not be the place for you.

The hosts, Maureen and Colm, were like guardian angels to us. They went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and memorable. Maureen even picked us up from the bus stop and helped us with our luggage. They took us to the local market and other shops on multiple occasions, and Colm assisted us in getting a car. the house itself was spotlessly clean, serene, and quiet. the nearby park was also a beautiful addition. We couldn't recommend this lodge enough - it truly was the best short stay experience we've had. Cons: Nothing bad to say 😊.
